Perceived agency with youth in education

This 24-item measure was developed for use among Korean native speaking mothers of a youth in high school and whose psychometric properties were reported upon in Chang & Lee (2016). According to the model of shared and non-shared agency (Chang, 2008), three subscales of perceived shared agency consist of maternal accommodation (3 items), support (5 items), and collaboration with youth (5 items); two measures of non-shared agency consist of maternal noninvolvement (6 items) and maternal management or directing of youth’s educational goals (5 items). In Chang & Lee (2016), a sample of 153 kirogi mothers of a youth, the αs ranged from .67 maternal directing to .80 maternal noninvolvement.

Researchers are welcome to use the scale freely as long as authors cite Chang & Lee (2016). If there are suggested changes to the Korean translation, please send me your version along with the psychometric properties. If other translations were conducted, I would be happy to make them available on this website along with citations to your work.
