Erika graduated from SUA with a concentration in International Studies in 2011. She is currently works for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
What is your best memory as an International Studies concentrator?
Learning about various global challenges and discussing the issues with classmates and professors. Through taking IS courses, I became interested in the field of international development.
How did International Studies prepare you for life after SUA?
The International Studies concentration at SUA prepared me for graduate school to learn more in depth about international development. In addition, because of the experience that I gained as an International Studies student, I became interested in joining Peace Corps. My Peace Corps service led me to work for a government agency.
Do you have any advice for current International Studies concentrators?
Sometimes it’s hard and you get overwhelmed, but try to remember why you are learning and keep studying hard because SUA will prepare you well for both graduate school and careers in order to achieve your goals.
