“Supporting Soka makes us feel hopeful for the future of our planet and the happiness of all people, regardless of race, religion, or country of origin.”
Ira and Bethany Moretski, two of Soka’s donors, share why they’re so passionate about supporting the university.
“We both grew up in the civil rights movement and have dedicated our lives to human rights and a peaceful world. Because we do not have children, we wanted to contribute to raising the future leaders for peace. We feel that education is one of the most important components in raising the next generation of global citizens. We are confident that these future leaders will carry on our commitment to continue the fight for human rights and equality, as well as our concerns about the environment and world peace.
“Supporting Soka makes us feel hopeful for the future of our planet and the happiness of all people, regardless of race, religion, or country of origin. We want to thank each and every Soka student for your commitment to making a difference in the world. Please have the spirit to never give up on your hopes and dreams for contribution. Work hard, stay true to yourself, and fight for what you believe is right.
“Developing the qualities of wisdom, courage, and compassion are essential to successfully running the marathon of life. It’s important to become relentless in holding a vision of a planet that you can feel proud to be a part of. It’s important to use obstacles as opportunities to grow with self-reflection and grace.”
